Blackhouse

Good points:

-There was a live pianist who was very good.

-The starters were excellent, battered prawns and warm bread.

-The service was fast.

Bad points:

-The place was very loud, I could not hear the waiter when I asked what beers were available and after asking him to repeat it I still could not hear him, I just asked for the last thing that he said.

-I asked for my fillet steak medium, it was not, it was, in my opinion, well-done.

-My fiance ordered a chicken burger, some of the chicken was too pink for her.

-I ordered my steak as Surf & Turf (served with a skewer of garlic prawns). This was served on a metal skewer propped up aginst the steak. The first thing I did was try to move this to reveal my steak. I am now left with burn marks because the metal skewer was incredibly hot. I had to attend to my burns using an ice cube from my fiance's drink.

-When I informed the waiter that I had burned myself and that they should not put pieces of hot metal on that plate a manager came over...[and this is the bit that annoyed me]...the manager tried to explain why they send their skewers out that way! I informed him that had they served the same meal to a child then they would probably end up in court. He offered a free drink (which I declined).

Overall:

-I will not be going again.

-I will not recommend this place to a friend.

Looking for somewhere new for my wifes birthday we tried Blackhouse. We Were a party of seven and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food and the service was next to no other. My wife also got champagne on the house.

When we asked could we take our coffees/cocktails outside onto a heated terrace we were told that it was ok. Two minutes later our delightful waitress told us that she had reserved tables outside for us. How lovely was that.

First class food and first class service + lovely surroundings.

What more could I ask for my wife for her birthday treat
